Elementary Students Reading Engagement: the Impact of Story-Telling in EFL Reading Comprehension

This study is aimed to report elementary students' engagement and perception of the use storytelling in reading comprehension. The as one oldest ways human communication already known. It also pedagogical tools develop language skills first, second, foreign languages regardless age, gender, ethnicity. Storytelling proved be more effective teaching than traditional material because it fun, engaging, raises interest listening stories well retelling them. Meanwhile, a crucial aspect life, improving brain performance, increasing knowledge, sharpening memory. research employed case with qualitative approach. participants were 31 school students. data derived from classroom observations, questionnaires, interviews. results showed that students engaged activity class. questionnaire observational indicated children responded positively engage class, motivating behavior attitudes EFL activity. Drawing on findings, pedagogically, this implied story telling can adopted scaffolding comprehension situated context.
